Garlic & Shots

Last night in London, what to do?? I had the genius idea of getting a curry as Mr Mae loves Indian food....however our plans were scuppered when we stumbled upon this intriguing place: Garlic and Shots!

Basically everything has garlic in some form inc the alcohol. We tried Garlic Beer which was rather deceptive as it was literally garlic crushed into beer....I drank about half of mine...the look on Mr Mae's face says it all really...

They have a TONNE of shots made out of garlic and the entire menu is as well.
We had Garlic Pops, basically tempura battered garlic that is deep fried...surprisingly good!

After that Mr Mae has ribs which were amazing and I had a steak that was pretty good, nothing to write home about but is was called Transylvanian Revenge or something and had a cute garlic cross on top of it!!

London Town

London how I love thee :) you are SO much better than when I lived in you in the 90's!

I don't do too many exciting things in London as I used to live here so I've seen the sights etc. But what I do do is catch up with as many mates as I can and I always visit Borough Market! Sadly I had to do a mid-week trip there this time, there's not as many stalls but I did get some delicious jerk chicken and a beef empanada :)

More Bordeaux in L'Epicure

L'Entrecote-Bordeaux

So, on our last night in Bordeaux we decided to check out this place: L'Entrecote
Mr Mae said that there were queues out the door of this place the last time he was there so we thought "Hey, it's gotta be good!"

On this night we struck gold as France were playing Switzerland in the World Cup so there were no queues!

I made the faux pas of asking for a menu once we were in there...the waitress giggled and gave me the drink menu and said "We only do one thing here, madame!"
Yes, a restaurant that only does ONE dish folks but what a dish is is....thinly sliced sirloin steak, a token salad and a literal never ending pile of pommes frites!! T'was a-m-a-z-i-n-g....

Single Malt the Sausage!

At the L'Epicure thing in the square of Bordeaux, we met a man who was at another table who had the cutest Sausage Dog called Single Malt! We find them everywhere, lol.

We were walking home and stopped at a local bar for a drink and who was there?? Single Malt!!

We hung out for ages and got a bit tipsy, to be honest. No one spoke much English but we had a blast watching the soccer and drinking rose whilst Single adorably chased a balloon....happy days :)

Bordeaux

Bordeaux....gorgeous town and very famous for its wine....we wanted to go on a tour of a couple of the chateaus but time did not permit and it was really hot.

The best thing was we landed just when a 2 week period started called L'Epicure where they set up all these bars and eating places in the square in the middle of town. It was fabulous to be able to walk through and sample different wines and local delicacies. The best one had duck rillettes and a great charcuterie plate...def not great for the waistline but wonderful for the tastebuds!
