My obsession....Fauchon

I came to Paris once on a travel agent famil trip and our host was a BA rep who used to live here. It was great hanging out with him as he spoke the lingo and knew a lot of out of the way places to eat and drink.

It was he who introduced me to my obsession, Fauchon...

Fauchon is an old respected purveyor of baked goods and other delights. Mostly they are famous for their macarons but I also love their jams, mustards and tea (of course!).

It's not for the faint-hearted or the poor, but if you are lucky they will have a selection of goods that are discounted, which is what I hit first up. They also have lovely tins of chocolate and biccies that make for great keepsakes or presents for families esp yo mama!

Harrods darling!

As a dedicated foodie, places like this are like CRACK to me....last year I didn't go but Mr Mae did and got me the most amazing tea called Fancy Earl Grey. It is Early Grey with CHOCOLATE and CHILLI!! Sounds dodgy is so not dodgy...it is heaven in a pot.....so I had run out and that was my excuse to go back :) I only spend 30 Squids, I promise you!!

It's so gorgeous inside and there are all these little eating spots as well...it's expensive but well worth it if you want to treat yo'self...go on, do it!

Tea of the Gods!

Le Troix Garcons

Just realised I haven't posted about our amazing anniversary night in London!

Each year we take turns to organise it and this year it was Mr Mae's turn. He did real good in choosing this avant garde place in Shoreditch called Le Troix Garcons. It is 3 dudes who came together a Frenchman, a Malaysian and a Canadian and they created the weird and wonderful workd of Lounge Lover (a bar across the road) and Le Troix Garcons.

The food is French with modern twists, sometimes a bit Asian and other times something you cannot really pt your finger on. We went for the degustation menu with matching wines because we are gluttonous cochons and well, why not!

Cocktails first at Lounge Lover under a very hungry looking hippo! Don't worry,  he's not real :)

More menagerie in Les Troix Garcons

My first taste of Fois Gras with Sauternes jelly!

Sesame crusted tuna with lotus crisp

Seared prawn with mange toute and prawn and lobster cake

Mr Mae sizes up his meal

Beef with sauce Bordelaise, sauteed spinach and confit potatoes

Nougat Parfait

Seems they have some sort of beef with the bar next door, I found this rather passively-aggressively amusing!
